Russian extortion suspect arrested at luxury resort on Koh Samui

Sibgatullin Airat, 40, a Russian man accused of extorting over 1 million roubles from a Russian automotive company CEO, was arrested at a luxury resort on Koh Samui in January 2026. He had fled to Thailand to escape prosecution. Thai police arrested him by the pool. He faces extradition to Russia.
